Unconformity

The geologist James Hutton described an unconformity as a meeting of two types of rocks that should not really be close to each other.

Jane and Kate are sisters who have not spoken to each other for years. But their mother has died and asked that they scatter her ashes on the Isle of Arran, the two of them, together. Meanwhile, Jane's teenage daughters are at home, squabbling over homework and boys.

Unconformity discusses the conflicts arising in families and the strategies we devise when we cannot overcome them. It is a play about differences and similarities - about apples and pears.
